Step 1: Creating Your Blog
Choose Your Blogging Service
The following blogging services are free:
- Live Journal
- Multiply
- Greymatter
- Movable Type
- Xanga
- WordPress
The service I recommend in creating your blog is WordPress, but it’s most important you choose wordpress.org. This is a free blogging platform and it’s your own personal prescence on the internet which nobody can take from you. Don’t use WordPress.com because you’re then part of someone else’s program and you can be removed at the drop of a hat.
Step 2: Creating Your Blog
Choose a Theme or Topic
In creating your blog it’s very important to decide what your blog is going to be about. This training is geared to marketing your business so we’ll talk about specific themes in the next blog post.
Step 3: Creating your Blog
Having chosen a blogging service and a theme it’s now time to set up your blog. There will be full step-by-step instructions within your service, showing you very clearly the design elements you might want to use in creating your blog.
This may well seem like a daunting task at first, but don’t worry, creating your blog is quite easy, a bit like painting by numbers.
Writing your first post
This is probably the hardest part of all in starting a blog, particularly if you haven’t much writing experience, but believe me, it does become easier with practice. A good place to start might be with a “Welcome to My Blog” post informing your future readers the reason for starting your blog and what you intend to write about. You could speak directly to your readers by making the post like a personal letter, so you have that immediate connection with them. The main thing to remember is that there will always be someone out there interested in what you’re writing about.
As an example you could thank people for visiting your new blog, and giving them a little insight into your background. Additionally, you could explain what they can look forward to as your blog evolves, that you want to provide them with valuable tips and advice on the subject matter you are passionate about.
In creating your blog I would highly recommend a training series I used in the early days called mlm blog secrets by Ty Tribble. Go and take a look at the introductory video.
In the next post I’ll be showing you how to choose a theme for your blog.
