Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.
Many people take the first step and then stop. Yet, with every additional step you take, you enhance immensely the value of your first step.
All masters of success are chiefly distinguished by their power of adding a second, a third, and perhaps a fourth step in a continuous line.
There is no royal road to anything. One thing at a time, all things in succession is the rule of life. That which grows fast, withers as rapidly. That which grows slowly, endures.
Do not despise the bottom rings in your ascent to greatness. Author Darren Hardy wrote a book about this concept called The Compound Effect. He said “No matter what you learn, what strategy
or tactic you employ, success comes as a result of the Compound Effect, the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices.
What people don’t realise is that small, seemingly insignificant improvements completed consistently over a period of time will create significant improvements.
Two Examples Of This Powerful Concept
1. If you were to make a 0.0027% improvement per day in any area of your life, (that’s just less than one third of one percent) then in one year you would have improved by 100%.
People who make New Year Resolutions often fail because nothing much seems to be happening in the first few weeks.
Unfortunately we are a society of instant gratification seekers and unless something is happening NOW then we tend not to be interested.
2. If you had the choice of £1,000,000 (One Million Pounds) NOW, or have the benefit of doubling one penny for the next 30 days, what would you choose?
Well, let’s take a look at this very powerful example. By day 15 we have made a massive £163.84 and we’re already half way through the 30 days, so if you took the decision to take the £1,000,000 now, then perhaps it was a good one.
However, on day 16 we’ve made £327.68 which is still nothing to shout home about BUT it’s more than the previous 15 days added together, so, something is happening. By day 20 we’ve made
£5.242.88, so things are certainly improving, but we’ve only got 10 days left. However, on day 30 the figure is £5,368,709.12 (that’s 5 million plus).
The money earned in the first 15 days by doubling the penny was only £163.84, but the money earned in the next 15 days would be worth £10,000,000 (10 million pounds).
Please do the math on this example, you’ll be shocked.
